amazed by apparent lack of self-reflection among many of the people dancing tango, we keep asking ourselves - 'why?' So we decided to make the questions public - the answers, we hope, will come in form of comments or maybe, we hope even more, in form of visible improvements on the dance floor
Isn't that what they are for? ;-)
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope i'm not but if i accidentally do it's probably for one of three reasons
1. I got carried away...
2. You lead me in a way that made me stab you
3. Somebody else lead me in a way that made me stab you.
If it's 1. I will apoligise profusely - if it's 2. I'll scowl at you but I might still apologise - if it's 3. I'll scowl at my leader and apologise to you...
It seems quite funny to me that more often it is the follower that do apologize - even though it's pretty hard to see what's behind..
ReplyDeletePersonally I try to keep all boleos low - but sometimes I'm carried away with the lead and the music.
Maybe a shared responsibility then? The leader shouldn't lead one on a busy floor, the follower should keep it quiet?
I agree - mostly. It is a shared responsibility but...if I'm very relaxed (i don't mean 'floppy') in my dancing and not 'guarded' and 'prepared' in any way then an energetically lead boleo will come off the floor....so yes, what I generally choose to do, especially if it's crowded and depending who I dance with is be 'prepared' and 'guarded' which at least for me makes for worse dances...so maybe slightly more the leaders responsibility...
